Several years ago, George and Laura, my brother and sister-in-law, asked me to write a series of songs, one for each letter of the alphabet. We fudged a bit on the openings for a few of them...it's not very easy to find a verse that begins with the letter X! I recorded basic piano accompaniments for the 26 songs and they taught them to their children, and did their first family recording when their oldest 3 girls were 3, 5 and 7. In 2014, they returned to these songs and recorded them again. When I heard the new recording, it was like hearing new songs in a way. In the intervening years, the girls had arranged the songs and made them their own. My plan is to make the sheet music available for all the songs, although this may take some time with the other projects I am working on. Train Up A Child, based on Proverbs 22:6, is a fun, upbeat song that your kids will enjoy singing. Add the optional claps (as in the recording) to encourage participation.
